Synopsis:

Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.

That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.

Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?

My rating: ★★★★★

As we all know (unless you haven’t read Hex Hall...and if you haven’t I recommend you don’t read this review yet, lol) Sophie is not a witch, but part demon. She isn’t happy with that whatsoever. That is why she has decided to go through Removal. Meaning that she will be stripped of her powers, but in the process she could die. Sophie knows this, but she doesn’t want to risk ending up like Alice (her great-grandmother) and killing a whole bunch of innocent people.

And guess what? She finally gets to meet her dear ol’ dad!! So off they go to London with Cal and Jenna where Sophie will spend the summer with her dad. Little does she know that trouble awaits her. *cue ominous music*

Upon Sophie’s arrival, she discovers that two (count them, TWO!) other demons, besides her and her dad, are staying at the house in England. Suspicious, right? Well, it gets much worse. Someone is raising demons. Yeah, because it went sooo well the last time *cough* Alice *cough* (oh, and note sarcasm, lol)

Not only are they trying to figure out the who, what, when, where, how and whys to this, but also The Eye is hunting down Sophie... and using Archer to do it. You remember Archer? That hot warlock guy? You know, the one who turned out to be a total traitor and was in The Eye? Gosh, that sucked. I really liked him =/ and it turns out that he has been spotted in London! Ha! What are the odds of that?

Great, amazing, fantastic, super awesome book! Loved it... but hated that cursed cliffhanger -_- Can’t wait for the next book!!
