Synopsis:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem — when the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wished she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery — although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially infront of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely — enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven.

My rating: ★★★★★

PERCY IS BACK!!! YAY!!! And now with that out of my system, lets get to the review... :)

With huge chunks of his memory missing, Percy wakes up in a strange place known as the Wolf House. And there is only one thing he remembers... the name "Annabeth." From the Wolf House he makes his way to Camp Jupiter, a camp for demigod children of the Roman gods. What?! Yeah, I know! Crazy! And here is Percy, a Greek demigod who doesn't even remember Camp Half-Blood! Oh Hera, you evil goddess you. Well, she's not really evil since she's trying to save the world and all... but still! *glares at Hera*

Anyway, Percy Jackson, being the awesome hotshot demigod that he is, ends up going on a quest with Frank and Hazel (from this new camp) to defeat the giant Alcyoneus who is rising in Alaska AKA "The Land Beyond the Gods..." Ooooh, spooky. As always, there was tons of action and adventure, many surprises and crazy plot twists, and it was also very funny! Ah Percy, how I missed you and your sarcasm :)

I loved seeing all these new characters. I really liked Hazel and Frank and was so shocked to find out about their dark secrets and amazing powers... crazy stuff, I tell ya. We also run into some new monsters, some I've never heard of before, and others we've already seen in previous books!

The one thing though, I understand why it's told in the 3rd person POV, but it just so weird since I was used to Percy Jackson and his 1st person POV! But I guess I shouldn't complain... IT'S PERCY JACKSON, AND HE IS BACK! YAY!

Also, Rick is pretty amazing at writing those killer cliffhangers which my friend, who is also a fellow Percy Jackson fan, and I have dubbed as Rickhangers ;) Holy Hades!

It is no surprise that I absolutely LOVED this book! Rick is a mythology GENIUS! And actually, this is the second time I read The Son of Neptune because the first time I didn't review it... Anyway, this is a series I recommend to everyone! Young and old, whether you are a huge mythology fan like myself or want to learn about it... Read this! It's amazing and just so much fun!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)
