Synopsis:

"Nothing bad will happen," Della O'Connor assures her friends in the Outdoors Club. So what if their advisor can't go on the overnight to Fear Island—won't it be more fun with no adults around?

But it's no fun at all when Della gets lost in the woods, and the dangerous stranger appears, whispering threats, driving her to a violent act.

Suddenly all of her friends are involved, prisoners in a conspiracy of silence, trying to conceal the terrible truth. But someone saw what Della did. And he's threatening them all, forcing them back to Fear Island to find the evidence they forgot to bury...

My rating: ★★★★☆

They shared her terrible secret—but could they get away with murder?

The Overnight mostly takes place on Fear Island, which is on a lake on Fear Street, somewhere behind the burned down Fear Mansion. And let me tell you, I loved this setting! It was a lot of fun! I mean, not for the characters, but it was for me! :D

Speaking of characters, I thought the characters in this book were all pretty interesting overall. I really liked our main character Della. Her friend Maia on the other hand...

Holy sh*t was she annoying! So, after the tragedy happens, Maia freaks out. And while it’s with good reason, she is inconsiderate AF when it comes to her friend Della who was actually directly involved in this awful thing! She just doesn’t care or worry about Della! Maia only cares about herself and whether her parents will find out that she went on this overnight without a chaperone.

bitch face

Della, too, felt angry at Maia for her inconsideration, but then she goes to explain how overprotective Maia’s parents are of her.

Maia didn’t have much of an opportunity to act like a grown-up. Her parents were doing everything they could to keep her a child. -Della

Look, I get it. I really do. But I guess I’m just much less forgiving than Della is, lol.

Another character I wasn’t a fan of was Ricky, the non-class clown. This guy tries so hard to be funny and he... he just isn’t! All his jokes are awful and just... shut up Ricky! Gods!

Pete, though, I liked him! I really liked the way his relationship with Della progressed. Very much enjoyed it :)

The Overnight was action-packed and very suspenseful! The mystery as to who saw what Della did and then proceeded to threaten to spill her secret... Well, I suspected everyone! But then when the reveal came around... I can’t say I was a fan of it. I honestly preferred all my theories I came up with, lol. But overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was a lot of fun and the main character was really great and very believable!

The Fear Street connection: Takes place mostly on Fear Island which is in the middle of a lake on Fear Street!
